Mexican Destination Wedding – Richard & Lyndsay

This Mexican destination wedding has a very special place in my heart… it’s not every weekend that you get to watch your little brother tie the knot! After nine years of dating, Richard officially made Lyndsay part of the family in a gorgeous destination wedding in Playa Del Carmen. It was the perfect setting for their big day, especially since they had already made some memories there – the Bahia Principe resort is where they got engaged! (We celebrated their engagement with an e-session in Kananaskis, which you can see here. Both Richard and Lyndsay had always dreamed of a destination wedding, and I was honoured that they chose me to capture the day as their photographer. (A BIG Thank you to Playalovesme photo for second shooting this wedding for me!)

I started the day off by getting ready along with Lyndsay and her bridesmaids – she wanted me to feel like part of the family, so I got my hair done, too! I also got one of the beautiful turquoise floral robes that the rest of the ladies wore while getting ready. Meanwhile, my husband, brothers and son were getting ready with Richard, as the men were serving as groomsmen and our 19 year old son was a ring bearer.

The ceremony took place right before sunset on the beach, and afterwards we stole the newlyweds away for a quick waterfront portrait session, and with it being dusk, we ended up with gorgeous skies and perfect lighting.

Even though they got married far away from home, Richard and Lyndsay made the day their own with little personal details, including a seating sign and seating cards that I made for them, and an LA Lakers garter. And we all know that nothing gets in the way of a big ol’ Ukrainian party, so there was good food, plenty of drinks, and even a polka or two on the dance floor.

I am beyond thankful to be able to FINALLY call Lyndsay my sister! I’m so proud of the two of them and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for them both.
