M + W’s wedding day was a wonderful start to my local 2012 wedding season.

They are both doctors finishing their anaesthesia residency in Calgary and they planned their wedding here in their hometown of Edmonton, where they both fell in love back in high school. They are both kind, caring, easy going and two of these sweetest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and photographing. I was lucky enough to meet and photograph their little puppy Charlie and though he wasn’t able to spend the entire day with mom and dad; he sure was happy when he finally saw them.

There is something to be said about marrying your first love.  The day was everything a wedding should be and so filled with love, laughter, family and even some smooching!

The day started early with the groom and his entourage arriving at the Bride’s parents home. M had to prove himself worthy of such a special bride. He had to reenact his proposal; he had to dirty dance with his best man, there was some leg waxing and some fear factor eating! It was so much fun to witness and a blast to photograph. Next up was a tea ceremony at the bride’s parents home and then another at the groom’s parents home. I love the meaning and symbolism behind these ceremonies and W looked breathtaking in her traditional dress! After the traditional ceremonies it was back to the bride’s home to change into her white dress. W looked so beautiful… so special and we were all at a loss for words! After some lunch and some photos around the house we were off to formal photos. We had some great locations and luckily it wasn’t too cold… though it could have been a bit warmer! Their ceremony and reception were held at the always beautiful Hotel MacDonald. The groom and his best man danced their way down the aisle… best groom’s entrance ever!! The meal was definitely the yummiest wedding food ever … the chef’s definitely did not disappoint! The night ended with some yummy cake made by the bride herself!

Thank you to both sets of families and a fabulous Maid of Honor and Best Man! It was great getting to know you all… Congratulations on your families becoming one!

W + M I hope you know by now how truly grateful I am that you chose me to capture your special day! Your day was beyond perfect!

These two are so easy going, so much fun to be around and I love how they love each other!

A has the sweetest smile when he’s looking at R and I love how he makes R so content! I love the connection between these two and it really makes my job as a photographer, much easier! I love the emotion and I feel pretty darn lucky that they chose me to capture this special time in their lives!

They are getting married in less than 2 months and from what i’ve heard, it’s going to be an amazing day with a fabulous reception at the Matrix hotel! In the mean time, check out a sneak peek of their engagement photos..

(I had a very hard time trying to decide which pictures to share so there are a lot!!)

I get a lot of emails/requests from newbie photographers asking to tag along to my weddings. I have never done so but I thought I’d post it here and leave it up to my brides… Basically, you would have a 3rd photographer at no charge and you would receive an additional disc of edited images from this photographer. There are some great new photogs out there!

With the most amazing lips and the cutest chin, Ellie made this one of my favourite newborn sessions (even though she outright refused any photos where she  was unwrapped!)

D + J ARE GETTING MARRIED IN JUST OVER A MONTH AND I CANNOT WAIT!

THEY CHOSE TO DO TWO SEPARATE ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS AND I COULDN’T BE MORE THRILLED.

JENN REALLY WANTED SNOW AND WE HAD A TEENSY BIT FOR THIS SESSION… THEY ARE SO COMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA AND BEING WITH SOMEONE YOU LOVE MAKES IT THAT MUCH BETTER!

These two were married on the warm beaches of Mexico at the Grand Riviera Princess. With the waves crashing in the background and a few speedo clad paparazzi the ceremony was beautiful and magical… everything a wedding ceremony should be!

Sara wore a gorgeous wedding gown and sparkled like a true princess… she’s as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside!

Being together since high school, these two truly are best friends. Their love is true and I wish the best for them in all that they do… I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the two of them!

There sure is something special about destination weddings… if you are looking for a photographer for your destination wedding please let me know!  There are quite a few perks along with having lot’s of photos from your “wedding week”.

These two planned a day PERFECTLY suited for the two of them!

They walked down the aisle to the Jurassic Park Theme song… yup, they are that cool!

Sara wore a GORGEOUS short dress in the middle of winter… brave, brave girl!

AND she even slipped on some big Sorel’s half way through formal photos, which I was kicking my own butt for not bringing my own!

They were married on a chilly winter day at the end of January and I am so, so, BEYOND thankful that they chose me to capture their day!

A big “THANK YOU” to Lindsay  for second shooting with me and braving the sub zero temps! You really are amazing!

I am still recovering from a wonderful week in Cozumel, celebrating and photographing this amazing couple and their wedding day! I do want to send a big “shout out” to all of their wedding party, family and friends as they made Frank and I feel beyond welcome and it really was a super fun week! (Steve, so wishing I had my camera out when you put on the snuggie in the airport!) We really did make some wonderful new friends!
